The Eagles lost a physical battle on Saturday against the Hickory Hawks, 13-28.
The Eagles lost a physical battle on Saturday against the Hickory Hawks.  The Hawks drove down to score on their first possession of the game.  However, neither team threatened again during the first half so the score remained 6-0 at the break.  After the second half kickoff, the Hawks marched 80 yards...converted the two point run...to take a 14-0 with just over five minutes remaining in the third.  Rabun Gap came to life when Viljami Rautavirta found Devyn Munroe for a 41 yard TD strike.  Moments later, Kevin Miller returned an interception 52 yards for another Rabun Gap touchdown.  The extra point was no good so the Hawks led 14-13 as the third quarter ended.  Once again, the Hawks marched 80 yards to take a 22-13 lead.  After a Rautavirta interception, the Hawks put the game away with their second touchdown of the fourth quarter...making the final score 28-13.  Rautavirta went 12 of 21 for 133 yards.  Munroe finished with 4 catches for 63 yards and a TD.  Garrison Melzer had 4 catches for 45 yards.  Hamilton Hardman had 3 catches for 22 yards.   Logan McRary led the Eagles with 14 tackles.  Miller had 11 tackles.  Devontae Murphy and Adam Justus each finished with 10 tackles.

Rabun Gap (2-6) will travel to Charlotte to play the Carolina Pride on Friday.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.
