A Unique Opportunity
in Creative MovementThe Rabun Gap dance program provides a unique opportunity for students to engage in the creative and physical benefits that come from movement. Dance classes range from beginner to intermediate-advanced with a focus on learning technique in ballet, tap, musical theater, and jazz.
Dance is built into the elective arts curriculum in Middle School and then continues into our Upper School program. Student growth in class not only prepares them for multiple performance opportunities, but also introduces them to practical life skills such as multitasking, team building, situational problem solving, and personal responsibility.
The Rabun Gap dance program offers a well-rounded, creative, and critical approach to dance. It gives each and every student a better sense of self-esteem, body awareness, and an emotional connection to their life and surroundings.
Each year, the department puts on an annual spring dance concert that showcases dancers' repertoire learned as well as student choreography. This, along with many chances to perform at convocations, chapels, and showcases, ensures that students are able to excel on stage. Afternoon extracurriculars such as the musical and the cirque program offer additional opportunities in dance.
