The Rabun Gap Cirque program is a cornerstone of the arts department. Founded in 2001, Rabun Gap has served as one of the earliest and longest running high school cirque programs in the country.
Utilizing trainers from Asheville, Atlanta, Athens, and the surrounding area, Rabun Gap teaches students cirque skills including Spanish web, aerial silks, trapeze, German wheel, aerial lyra, tumbling, and acrobatics.
Our Cirque program combines theatre performance, acrobatics, and dance, utilizing the talents of each student group to create an original and unique storytelling experience.
Beginning in Middle School, students are introduced to Cirque apps and safety protocols. This early start allows young performers to build strength, confidence, and ability in a small, supportive environment.
At the Upper School level, students culminate their Cirque skills each year building towards a regionally-acclaimed performance. More than 50 students are involved in producing the Cirque show each year. Students are included into the process of this show from the very beginning, helping to write and design, all the way through the choreography, music choices and with the building of the show itself.
Rabun Gap’s Cirque productions are highly-regarded in the Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina community. With an original script and concept every year, our Cirque productions are the must-see theatrical event for the area.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is a private, coeducational day and boarding school for grades Pre-K through 12. Centrally located between Atlanta, GA, Greenville, SC, and Asheville, NC, we prepare young people for college, career, and a lifetime of leadership and service.
