At the Niles Bolton Middle School, students in grades 6-8 chart their course in an environment of self-discovery and growth.
The Niles Bolton Middle School Complex resides in a separate building on 13 dedicated acres - complete with a creek and forests for outdoor exploration. Students not only benefit from the beautiful campus, but they are also allowed the freedom to grow and gain their independence in a safe and middle school-centered environment.
Our small, tight-knit community of around 120 students keeps class sizes small and promotes caring relationships between students and faculty. The entire student body gathers weekly for chapel and regularly for all-school events and activities. In today’s technological age, we teach soft skills and values that students will carry with them for life.
The college-preparatory curriculum includes classes in humanities, world languages, and science with a variety of fine arts and physical education electives. Students work one-on-one with teachers during tutorial times. Our Middle School program helps prepare young people to be bright citizens and successful Upper School scholars.
What makes our Middle School Academic Program Unique?
List of 3 items.
Engaged Learning Environment
Our Middle School students learn by doing. You’ll find students launching rockets in science class, building simple machines in math, and crafting medieval armor while learning about the Dark Ages in history. Each year students hold capstone seminars open to the public where they present original research projects. In addition to their work in the classroom, students are hands-on in the community, participating in service-learning projects including assisting local charities.
Exploring New Possibilities
We believe learning has no boundaries. Students have control of their own learning and are encouraged to explore and experiment with the world around them. Enrichment class options in student media, chapel team, and environmental sustainability help students explore their interests and callings to service.
Collaborative Community
Because of our small class sizes, students have opportunities to collaborate every day with their teachers and peers. The advisory program deepens relationships between faculty and their students. Regular tutorial periods allow students to work one-on-one with teachers. The Middle School also organizes a school-wide house system grouping students in varied grades to encourage working together.
