Rabun Gap gala raises over $225K to support students

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School hosted its second-annual Green & Gold Gala on Saturday, August 3, raising a record-breaking $225,500 for the School’s Cupola Fund, which supports students and all programs at Rabun Gap.

The Gala featured an extensive silent auction with more than 60 items donated by parents, grandparents, alumni, trustees, and local businesses. Guests also enjoyed a seated dinner in the Woodruff Dining Hall, bingo with prizes from local businesses, and a big fireworks finale sponsored by Realtor Meghann Brackett of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. Matthew Johnson was MC for the event and was the bingo caller.

“This year’s gala was a resounding success and represents the support from our entire Rabun Gap community,” said Head of School Jeff Miles “I am incredibly grateful for our volunteer Gala Committee, led by co-chairs and Rabun Gap parents Sarah Barge and Andrea Sorgeloos. Thanks to their hard work and our supportive community, we were able to raise a record-breaking $225,500 in just four hours.”

One hundred and fifty supporters gathered for the special evening gala in the school’s dining hall which was fully transformed to an elegant event space.  This year attendees included board members, alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, and our friends from the local community. “It is exciting to see so many of our Rabun Gap family and friends come together to support our school’s mission.”

Proceeds from the event will support Rabun Gap students, teachers, and programs in all school divisions. The gala’s success would not be possible without the generous support of table sponsors, gala attendees, area businesses,  and the parent volunteer committee.

Gold table sponsors were Equality Health, The Rogers Family, Zavala Capital, NPS, and The Legacy Group. Green table sponsors were Habersham Metal Products Company, Margaret & Robert Carton, J.W. Underwood Construction, and  Futural Construction.
