Rabun Gap welcomes new Head Coach Sourosh Amani to lead its soccer program.

Amani brings a wealth of soccer experience to Rabun Gap, both as a player and a United States Soccer Federation licensed coach. A native of the Netherlands, Amani grew up competing for professional soccer academies and was recruited by Berry College. Amani served as a captain for the Vikings soccer team before moving on and continuing his soccer career in Europe and North America.

Amani has more than six years of club and school coaching experience in the United States and abroad. Most recently, Amani was a part of the coaching staff for the soccer club Inter Atlanta FC.

“I am very excited to be here at RGNS. They are providing me with a great opportunity to develop a high-quality soccer program for a variety of ages, as well as creating programs for the general community in the near future.” Amani said.

This fall, Amani will serve as head coach for the varsity boys team and will assist with the girls varsity team during the spring season.

“We are so excited to have Amani join the Rabun Gap Athletic Department,” said Athletic Director Dale Earnhardt. “His knowledge and experience with the game will help us continue our strong tradition of success within our soccer program.”

The first home game for the varsity Eagles is Friday, Aug. 25 against Blue Ridge.
