Dr. Farr to assume role starting in 2017-2018 school year
Dr. Farr has been appointed as Head of the Upper School starting in the 2017-18 school year. She succeeds Mr. Tom Bendel, who has accepted the Head of School position with North Jakarta Intercultural School (NJIS) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Dr. Farr has been part of the Rabun Gap community since 2015 and has served as Chair of the Humanities Department. She holds a Doctorate in English Literature from Emory University, a Master’s in Library Science from the University of North Texas, and a bachelor’s degree (Phi Beta Kappa) from North Carolina State University. Prior to joining Rabun Gap, she served as the director of the digital archive at Emory, and also served as an instructor in writing and English Literature at Emory.
“In my time at Rabun Gap, I have quickly grown to love the courage, diversity, fortitude, and curiosity of this community of students, and it is a blessing and an honor to serve them as Head of the Upper School,” said Dr. Farr.
Dr. Farr lives on campus with her husband Ken Klimasewski, and their two children.
“It is my pleasure to appoint Dr. Erika Farr as Head of the Upper School,” said Head of School Anthony Sgro. “Dr. Farr is a phenomenal educator and fully committed to our mission. I look forward to seeing her continue our legacy of success at the Upper School.”
