  • What is summer reading?

    Each year, students have required summer reading to complete before the start of school. Students in grades 6-12 have two summer reading assignments - one by grade level, and the other is a Choice Book. Students will choose a book from the published Choice Book List. 

    The Summer Reading Lists for all divisions are posted on the Resource Boards in The Gap. Summer reading is important to complete as it is a test grade in most classes. 
  • When is Open House for Lower and Middle School?

    All families should plan to attend our Family Welcome (open house) on Sunday, August 21. These are drop in events. Middle School is 3:30-5:30 PM and Lower School is 2-4 PM. 
  • When do I start paying tuition? How is tuition paid to the school?

    uition payments began June 1st. You may pay tuition by check, credit card, cash, or wire transfer. Payments are credited to your account through your Smart Tuition account, the portal for tuition payments, and billing. You should have received a confirmation email from Tuition Management. Tuition Management portal access is available through the resource board in The Gap once your enrollment is processed in the Admission Office. You are then able to just click on the Tuition Management tile in the Resource Board to access your Tuition Management account.

  • How does the school communicate with parents?

    The primary form of communication at Rabun Gap is email. Parents receive a weekly email update at the beginning of each week from their division. On Fridays, the Communications Office sends the Weekly Rundown with important schoolwide announcements and news. These are sent to the primary email in your contact on The Gap. If you need to update, email infoupdate@rabungap.org.
  • How do I find out my class schedule?

    Schedules for Upper School students: The registrar, Susan Reimer, will reach out to you to complete the class schedule. Afterward, you may view the course list by selecting the student’s name in the upper left-hand corner. Choose “course request” in the navigation bar under the student’s name. You can make changes but also please email any change requests to the Academic Office: Susan Reimer, sreimer@rabungap.org or 706-746-7701. 

    All divisions release schedules and class placements the first week of August. 
  • What is The Gap?

    The Gap is our internal portal for parents, students, and employees. It is the same platform you applied to Rabun Gap with. It can be accessed at https://rabungap.myschoolapp.com/ or by clicking the yellow button at the top of the website. 

    The Gap is where you'll find important information about the beginning of the school year. You'll find most of this information on the Resource Board. Click here to watch a video tutorial on accessing the resource board. The Gap is also a place to log in regularly throughout the school year for updates and to communicate with teachers. Students, especially in the Middle and Upper Schools, use The Gap to complete assignments and engage with classes.

  • When can I arrive on campus?

    We have a schedule of arrival for the beginning of the school year. 

    Click here to view the Return Dates and Airport Shuttle Schedule. This document is also available on The Gap Resource Board under Upper and Middle School Resources. 

    Students may only move in on their scheduled day.  There will be a $200 per day fine assessed for students who arrive on unscheduled days.  A form will be available July 7 in The Gap to make shuttle reservations and inform the school of arrival plans.  
  • How is banking handled?

    We have a relationships with a Rabun county bank and can provide assistance in helping your student set up an account. Please contact the Business Office. 
  • Who should I contact with questions about boarding?

  • How do roommates work at Rabun Gap?

    Students in their first year at Rabun Gap are assigned a roommate. Students can make a request to be roommates with a friend through the Student Life Office after their first year. In order to promote cross-cultural engagement, students typically don't room with someone who speaks their native language in the first year.
